Behind the computer online is an easy place to hide. Between posting, creating, designing + all the other things we as bloggers and business owners do, it is easy to isolate ourselves because we’re creating a sense of community through ‘likes’ and ‘follows’.
While all of the behind the scenes work is highly important and necessary, there is something more important; community. I don’t just mean online community of followers but real life, sit down, tribe building community.
Networking with others in your niche or creative community is imperative. If we want to impact others, we need to be with others. Building a tribe of friends that have similar interest + goals can be so rewarding. They get you when others don’t. You can share life with them and what’s life worth living if the journey isn’t shared with others?
Building a community is special because you have the ability to speak life into each other and share your talents. We can share our expertise and empower each other through community.
Through community comes new ideas, the power of collective wisdom, and accountability. All three of these being equally important. New ideas are always necessary because as creative we can find ourselves stuck in a creative rut and we need a new idea or perspective to help us keep moving forward. Together, we have the power of collective wisdom, like the saying “two heads are better than one.” When our ideas are combined bigger and better ideas can come forth. Finally, accountability is huge! It’s easy to make goals as bloggers and business owners but the follow through is the hard part. We need community to help us with staying accountable and encouraging us to achieve those scary goals on our list.
Community has helped me in many ways. I’ve connected with other creatives both in and outside of my photography niche. I have been able to share what I have learned through running a photography business and others have shared with me. I have built some amazing friendships and I know these strong bonds will last.
Please share in the comments below how community has helped you grow!
