To say that I’m overly cautious when it comes to my child riding in the car is an understatement. I probably have an unhealthy amount of anxiety about him in the car. I spent months reading about different car seats and the benefits of each one. I literally was kept awake at night because my brain could not shut off about it… (I know, that’s probably unhealthy… but let’s be real, new mom – enough said)
When it comes to Grayson’s safety I wanted the best of the best. After much research, store hopping, review reading, and deep breathing we decided on the Nuna Pipa carseat. Great ratings for safety and ease of use. We decided that our carseat and stroller would be the things that we splurged the most on. And guess what? I’ve never once regretted it!
The Nuna Pipa car seat is as sleek and fashionable as it is safe (because of course that matters ;)). The version we bought was only 7lbs which is much lighter than many other brands. They even have a new version that is lighter, the Nuna Jett. With our 8lb 5oz newborn, we were thrilled that we went with the lightest (and safest) carseat we could find.
We debated between the Nuna strollers as they have the Tavo and the Mixx. We ended up splurging on the Mixx because there are more options for the seat. You can have it face forward or backward. When you have it facing backward where the baby faces you, you can lay it all the way flat as if it were a bassinet stroller. (Nuna has a bassinet piece you can buy, but this works just as well). Another great thing about the Mixx stroller is the tires, they are heavy duty and they travel harder terrains better than the ones on the Tavo.
Overall we are 100% thrilled with the use we got out of the Nuna (while our son fit in it) and we plan to use it for baby #2 whenever that happens. (unless of course it expires before then… HA! I highly recommend splurging on these items because these are two of the items you will absolutely need for a long time (especially if you plan to have more). They are super durable and well worth the money.
