New mom must-haves! Expecting a new baby is incredibly exciting but also there are a lot of other emotions mixed in. What do I need to get for this baby? What color should I paint the room? Should we do a cupcake gender reveal or shoot up something with colorful paint in it? SO. MANY. DECISIONS. I’m 6 months into this motherhood thing and I thought I would share my top 5 new mom must-haves. Among many other awesome gadgets that you’ll use as a new mom i.e. breastpump, nursing bra, pumping bra… need I say more? These are the things that I found I was ALWAYS using and here’s why…
Little Unicorn Diaper Bag
Trust me, I know all about the hunt for the PERFECT diaper bag… will it hold all the things? Is it cute enough? Do I like this print or that print? What if I have a girl/boy next can I use this bag again? STOP THERE… this bag is awesome! Super spacious, gender neutral but still fashionable, can be used as a messenger bag or backpack, and has plenty of pockets inside and out.
Beautycounter Diaper Cream
I don’t know about you, but I want the SAFEST products for my son’s skin, the last thing I want to do is expose him to unnecessary harmful chemicals (and I’m not just saying this because I am a BC consultant- I only speak truth) This company has an ingredient screening process unlike ANY other and they have banned 1500 harmful ingredients from ever being in their products. ALSO, this diaper cream can be used with cloth diapers! Add this to your new mom must-haves list right now!
I am a HUGE fan of muslin swaddles and soft cuddly swaddles but mommas, when it comes to sleeping at night… I will be the first to tell you I was a freak about being worried that my sweet sleeping angel was going to hoodini his way out and wind up with the swaddle over his face. TERRIFYING to me! So, to not have to worry about this issue at night, I LOVE the SwaddleMe swaddle sacks. They’re super soft, adorable, and keep those random baby movements away meaning that little cutie will sleep much better.
Dr. Browns Bottles
While I am a big believer in breastfeeding, I’m more of a believer that fed is best. I could and probably will write a whole post about breastfeeding and my experience however, to keep it short I will say that if you’ve read about nipple confusion know that it’s not always the case and DO NOT fear having to use a bottle if you need to. These bottles rock because they are made to be very similar to breastfeeding and they have a little contraption in the middle that helps reduce gas and colic. Grayson LOVES these bottles and did just fine going between breastfeeding and Dr. Browns bottles. My lactation consultant actually recommended them!
Have you heard that the first three months your sweet one is earth side its basically a 4th trimester? Yep, that is true! You NEED a baby wrap. I ended up with like 6 different ones, excessive… I know. BUT here is what I think… A thick wrap like the Moby wrap or any brand that has thicker fabric will do. These are best because the thickness of the fabric wrapped the correct way with baby inside helps you to be hands free and still snuggle that bundle of cuteness. Also, you NEED soft structured carrier too, when that little nugget gets heavier or more alert they move more and the cloth wraps seem to sag more making it more uncomfortable. I HIGHLY recommend the ERGObaby or if you’re looking for a less expensive version we also sport the Mom on the Move carrier.
