Fed up of being stuck in the rat race? Giving the best years of your life to earn money for big corporations, having no job satisfaction and a boss constantly breathing down your neck? Perhaps you’re fed up with the commute, or colleagues make your time in work miserable. The fact of the matter is, many of us are unhappy in traditional workplaces but we show up and clock in every day because we feel like we have to. After all, we all have bills to pay! However you really shouldn’t just settle when it comes to your job, it’s where you spend a significant part of your day (and life in general), so if you’re unhappy here, it’s sure to show elsewhere in your life. If you’ve never considered seriously about working from home, now is the time to do so. You can do something you love and are passionate about, have flexibility to work when/ how much you want, and you get to avoid all of the issues outlined above. Here are just a few legitimate ways to earn money from home.
When you want to stay at home and earn money, freelancing is a great, reliable way to do so. Sign up to a couple of freelancing websites (you will need to do a short test to get accepted), and once you are, you can bid for jobs allowing you to work as much or as little as you want. Even if you plan on doing any of the following things below, freelancing is a good backup for if things are a little slow once week or you’re waiting for your venture to get off the ground. You could do freelance writing, design, even freelance transcription, data entry and other office-y roles depending on your skills.
The thing about blogging is it can be incredibly lucrative, but it takes a long time to get established so if you’re thinking about money only you’re bound to fail. For the first year or more you have to blog solely for the love of it, even if you have no followers and no interactions on your posts at first. Certain types of blogs do better than others, so it’s worth having a good think about exactly what you will be writing about and what you hope to offer a reader. If you already have an established blog which you’ve been writing as a hobby, start looking into ways to monetise. Even if it just earns you a little extra pocket money at first with the main bulk of your income coming from freelancing. In the future, it could become your full-time job.
Another option for earning money from home would be to set up a home-based business. If you’re the crafty type, it could be selling anything from homemade jewellery to candles to greetings cards. Alternatively, you could offer services- personal trainers, life coaches and tutors all do well. Instead of meeting your clients in person you would offer Skype/ video communication instead. Perfect if you love the field of work you’re in but just hate going to the workplace. As you can continue with what you love to do, but just from home instead.
